Chinese Ambassador to Iraq pledges to support efforts of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in countering COVID-19 pandemic

A delegation from Imam Hussain Holy Shrine met with the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Zhang Tao, with the aim of opening up prospects for cooperation in order to support its efforts in countering COVID-19 pandemic.

Sattar al-Saadi, general supervisor of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s health projects, said, “The delegation from Imam Hussain Holy Shrine conveyed an official invitation to the Chinese Ambassador to Iraq, Zhang Tao, to visit the Holy Shrine,” indicating that he has accepted and will visit in the coming days.

“The meeting focused on supporting the efforts of the Holy Shrine in countering COVID-19 pandemic, as the Chinese ambassador assured that they will provide assistance to Holy Shrine’s institutions in their efforts to support the Iraqi people in this critical time."

The two parties also discussed the possibility of opening an air route for transportation and facilitating cooperation with Chinese companies, in order for the Holy Shrine to purchase preventive supplies for the medical staffs.
