Inside of new dome of Imam Hussain Shrine to open soon

The Department of Maintenance of the Imam Hussain Shrine announced that 90% of the project of covering the inside of the dome of the Imam Hussain Shrine with decorative pieces of mirror has been achieved.

Head of the Maintenance Department Kereem Elembari said, “The works of covering the inside of the dome is nearing completion,” adding that the last phase of the project will be covering the other parts of the dome with veined tile to a modern design that simulates the nature of the Islamic architecture.

Elembari added that a 700m2 area of the dome has been covered, noting that arabesque engineers have been hired to do the mirror designs and patterns.

He indicated that the project started two months ago, and the dome will be open from inside prior to the first of the coming month of Muharram.
