In memory of the Iraqi sniper legend (Abo Tahseen Essalihey)

In memory of the late martyr Ali Cheyad, known as Abo Tahseen Essalihey – former sniper platoon commander in the Popular Mobilization Forces – the Imam Hussain Shrine has commemorated Essalihey’s martyrdom anniversary and honored his sacrifices and heroic acts of valor.

Essalihey joined the Popular Mobilization Forces as soon as the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority issued the edict of picking up arms against ISIS in 2014 and eliminated more than 320 ISIS terrorists.

He earned the title, “Eagle Eye” and “Chief of Snipers” for his altruistic sacrifices and distinctive performance during the war against ISIS—he was a hero of the Iraqi people.

The Imam Hussain Museum has opened a new permanent wing devoted to Popular Mobilization Forces acquisitions, and first displayed Essalihey’s sniping rifle and scarf.

In a meeting with Essalihey's family, sheikh Abdul-Mehdi Elkerbela'ey – representative of the Shia Muslim Supreme Religious Authority – said, "Essalihey's heritage is a historic source of pride the succeeding generations will pass down."
