Preparations made for the month of Muharram

As the month of Muharram is approaching, the Imam Hussain Shrine has begun its preparations to hold a stately ceremony to replace the red banner of the dome of the shrine with a black banner.

Muslims – in the month of Muharram – commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain, his family, and his companions (Peace Be Upon Them).

Jamal Eddean Esh-Shehristani – Media Department Director –, in a meeting with the custodian of the Imam Hussain Shrine: sheikh Abdul-Medhi Elkerbela’i, said they discussed a plan and a stately ceremony of replacing the banner as well as a means of managing pilgrims’ traffic.

He added that the Imam Hussain Shrine will install large TVs around the shrine, in addition to using the TVs of Kerbela Municipality to display the banner replacement ceremony.
