Imam Hussain fish farms supply market with various types of fresh fish

The Department of Agricultural Development at the Imam Hussain Shrine stated Monday that it's begun to supply the local market of the city of Kerbela and some neighboring cities with fresh fish.

Agronomist Ednan Ewez said, “After 3 months of continuous work on the fish farms of the Imam Hussain Shrine, we’ve begun supplying the market with fresh fish as of August 5, 2019.”

Ewez added that the Imam Hussain Shrine will work on marking down the price of fish, noting that the productive capacity of the fish farms will increase to more than 500 tons of various types of fish.

For the fish farming industry, the Imam Hussain Shrine imports plant-based fodder rich in protein that is good for fish and people, said further Ewez.

He indicated that the purpose of establishing these fish farms is to support the national economy and maintain a low purchase value.
