Al-Abbas Holy Shrine Library and House of Manuscripts participates in international conference on RDA cataloging system in Malaysia

The Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas Holy Shrine participated in the conference on data diversity in international contexts in the RDA cataloging system which was held in the Technology University Hall in the capital of Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of a large international audience of relevant institutions and persons. This is an introduction to a broader participation in the 84th World Congress of Libraries and Information, organized by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 24 to 30, under the theme: Transfer of libraries' work; the way to transform communities), which comes to highlight the influential role played by libraries in changing and developing societies and nations. The conference was organized by the Board of Directors of the Standard and Description of the Sources and opened by the RDA Chairperson Mrs. Chris Oliver, who spoke about the unification of the RDA community through these conferences and the exchange of experiences among them. The international event also shed light on the various experiences in the world's libraries, including the library and the manuscript house of the holy shrine. It is to note that the IFLA conference, which covers a wide range of topics, is witnessing a distinguished presence of library and information specialists from around the world each year. The conference is organized this year by the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), the Malaysian Library Association and the National Library of Malaysia, with the support of the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Malaysia Office of Exhibitions and Conferences (MyCEB).

The participation of the Library and House of Manuscripts of the al-Abbas Holy Shrine is the first Iraqi participation in this conference.
