Our Identity: Significance of Religious Culture

In the modern era, culture has become the mainstay of the development of every nation and civilization that seeks to make progress. It follows that social culture in various walks of life will leave its positive influence on both the regional and international levels.

It has been one of our aims to safeguard the Islamic culture and religious awareness that stem from the school of the Ahl al-Bayt. Fundamentally protecting the valuable teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt remains one of our major and forthcoming challenges that must be attempted by Muslim religious councils. This is because the teachings of the Holiest Ones will leave significant effects and influences on the infrastructure of human communities, upon which the entirety of society will grow; thus true and bright lifestyles will undoubtedly emerge from such an agenda.

The magazine Hussein Revivalism has a definite and decisive mission in this regard. As an instrumental cultural activity, it is significant to publish papers leading to public awareness of fundamental religious concepts. This requires the availability of several conditions, including first and foremost, having full confidence in the words of the Ahl al-Bayt. The right way and the best evidences can easily be discerned in and through their pious and distinctive personalities, as their teachings are not limited to any specific past era or time.

No doubt there are billions of people all over the globe who are in quest of this curing antidote. They are unfortunately deprived of this asset, the readily available hospitality of the spring of the Ahl al-Bayt's fresh and frequent teachings. Certainly, it remains a great mission to take such life-granting teachings to those who are in dire need of them--not an easy task, indeed.  This makes it incumbent upon the elite--thinkers and intellectuals--to pull people out from the darkness of ignorance that is promulgated day and night in the guise of globalization.

Practically, should we wish to achieve our aims and objectives, we must follow the path depicted and charted by the Infallible Imams. In consequence, faithful educators in the realm of dissemination of the Islamic culture are expected to portray the real thoughts of the Ahl al-Bayt. They must present them to the public, utilizing the most successful, effective methods, with a beautiful standard of language.

It suffices to cite an example as the foundation of our purpose. The third infallible Imam, Imam al-Hussein, accepted martyrdom for several reasons, amongst them safeguarding the true version of Islam, implementing proper religious and human standards, practicing Islamic ethics, and attaining religious freedom and human rights. All these objectives are readily at hand both in words and in deeds within the framework of Islamic culture, as shown and practiced by Imam al-Hussein. He provided the world with the greatest paradigm of righteousness, and displayed the inner meanings of the concepts of cultural development and stability.

To recapitulate, anyone who may want to achieve these aspirations must be far removed from violence and extremism (maliciously pictured as a trait of typical Muslim communities, in an attempt to distort the true image of Islam). Instead, they should follow the preaching and practices of Imam al-Hussein, peace be upon him.
